For the past 4 years, Sunil has been working as a consulting grant writer and communications (C4D) specialist with various NGOs in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi. Prior to this, for almost two decades, he travelled across India with his camera and pen to delve into the symbiosis between people and their cultural roots, their belief systems, their environment and the political clime that affects every other parameter in the developmental sector. He also ghost-writes for wannabe authors and his travel stories and images have been featured in several major national and international magazines and guidebooks. He has authored 11 books on art, culture and travel.
Armed with a Masters Degree in English literature from Jadavpur University (Kolkata) and an eye for the unusual, Shayoni has been an editor, proofreader and writer for several years. She also used to teach English to high school and college level students from various curriculum backgrounds. She was a resident of Mumbai for thirteen years and is now back in her hometown Kolkata. In her free time she likes to try her hand at photography and has contributed a number of images for her book “Rivers of India” (published 2011) which she co-authored.

Anyone photographing India knows that the history, the beautiful people, the chaos, and the gorgeous light make for good shots wherever one points one’s lens. But Sunil’s photos have that extra spark. He has a bold spontaneous vision, a deep love and concern for his country, the passion to travel extensively and an irreverence that provides the edge.

From 2012 to 2013, I collaborated with Shayoni Mitra on her long-running project ‘River Yatra'. Shayoni edited my content with a professional touch as well as sensitivity any writer would appreciate.
At that time Shayoni not only read my work-in-progress novel, which is asking a lot right there, but she put the red pencil to it. She helped me view my story from a new perspective, and influenced my way of working on a deeper level.
